Family Snow Trip
Sometimes all you need is a change of scenery and to be a kid again .
I gotta say, our trip to the mountains was what dreams are made of. My Florida babies had never seen snow until our time in North Carolina. We stayed in the Beech Mountain area and it was beautiful. A long haul of a drive for this south Florida family. But it was worth it.
We felt like we were in a snow globe. We did lots of sledding, snow angels, snow ball fights, icicle eating, and hot chocolate drinking. Adults, if you eat snow you’ll immediately get time warped to your childhood. It tastes the same. Highly recommend.
The best part was the seemingly pause on time. The awareness of the precious moments and memories happening right before our eyes. My mommy heart is so full.
Coming home was interesting. Because of the winter storm, we lost power late that evening. We had burned up all the firewood since we were planning to leave early in the morning. It was pitch black and cold. I freaked. It was 12 degrees outside with a windchill below zero and wild blowing snow that looked like a blizzard. The cabin was drafty and I went into survival mode. So we packed up in the candle light and cell phone flashlights and headed back south. We carried sleepy children down a slippery, snowy driveway without shoes, but got everyone in car seats under the moonlight. You guys, the mountain adventure did not disappoint.
I’m grateful for so many things. My mind and heart had been feeling so heavy lately. That faded away. Every travel trip reveals blessings that might otherwise go unrecognized. So thankful for our time playing in the snow.
