How to Clean Your Diffusers

How to clean your diffuser.JPG

When was the last time you gave your diffuser a good clean?

Do you ever lift the lid to drop in some oils and wonder how exactly to REALLY clean your diffuser? Let me take you through a simple step-by-step that'll bring all your diffusers back to life and running like new.

STEP ONE

Rinse the inside of the diffusers out really well with water. While still wet, add a little white vinegar to the bottom and use that vinegar to dip a cloth and wipe the lids clean.

STEP TWO

Take a cotton swap dipped in vinegar to get all those little spaces that have accumulated some reside. If you have toothpicks on hand, those can be useful for getting into those spaces where I cotton swab just can’t reach. Give everything a good rinse once again. Repeat if necessary.

STEP THREE

Let them COMPLETELY dry out before use again. Whether you wipe them out or just letting air dry this is an important step. It will really give your diffusers a break from all the hard work they do in our homes.

Once you power them on with your favorite blend, you'll notice a much greater output and the aroma will be more defined. It's a super satisfying process when you take a moment to clean them up and see them work as good as new.

How often should you clean your diffuser? In a perfect world once a week going through these steps would be ideal, but truthfully whenever you notice they’re looking like they need some extra love. A fresh water rinse before each use will help, but many people keep a water carafe right near the diffuser and oils for quick refilling. If you have diffusers all over the house (like, ahem, yours truly), it’s good to gather them all up at one time and clean them together. A little upkeep is well worth it and keeps them running strong for hopefully years to come.
