Soak Your Toothbrushes
Did you know your toothbrush is home to over 100 million bacteria?
Researchers have also found fecal germs on toothbrushes (don't store your brushes right where you flush, yuck). This totally grosses me out as I'm sure it does you. Not to worry! Essential oils have many cleansing properties that make them powerful cleaning agents. My oil blend of choice is On Guard protective blend with wild orange, cinnamon, clove, rosemary, and eucalyptus oils. Yum!
Every few weeks I like to soak our toothbrushes for 10 minutes or so in a mixture of water with about 4 to 5 drops of On Guard oil. Swirl it around and let them just take a bath. Give them a good rinse afterwards and leave them to dry.
It's such a simple and easy fix to minimize the gross factor of the germ overload that we know accumulates. Another recommendation is to replace your toothbrushes every 3 to 4 months. So in the meantime, just give your brushes a quick soak to help keep everyone healthier.
