DIY Spray Bottle Hack

Are you looking to detox your home and make some of your own green cleaning products?

Making your own cleaners is a great way to save money (lets face it, “green cleaning” and nontoxic products can come with a higher price tag then the other more toxic ones). As you are transitioning into making your own cleaners, however, purchasing glass spray bottles can also be a bit of an investment. My vote is that if you invest in ANYTHING, let it be into high quality essential oils vs. spending more on glass containers to store everything in. The oils you choose matters way more.

I’ve got a simple DIY hack you’ll love to try that’ll do just the trick.

What you need for the DIY:

6-pack Pellegrino bottles (save all the empties to reuse)

Spray tops

Baking soda

Lemon essential oil

Fill a sink full of hot water and add the empty Pellegrino bottles. Sprinkle some baking soda (about a half cup) and add 4 or 5 drops of lemon essential oil. Let the bottles soak for about 10 minutes before pulling off the labels. Soaking in the mixture will help the labels to just come right off without hassle.

You now have clean, empty glass bottles to use for your cleaning recipes! Add a spray top and you’re good to go! For the spray tops, you can reuse any old spray tops from cleaners by washing it out and trimming the plastic stems, OR you can purchase a pack of new spray tops if you don’t want to mess with having any chemical residue from old cleaners.
